Extensions

As we add extensions to mediawiki to make this site easier and more powerful, we will provide links to their documentation here.

FCKEditor

We have added an editor that makes editing more like "what you see is what you get" than the default editor in mediawiki.

If you are used to using "wikitext", the default editing language in mediawiki, you can force FCKEditor to use wikitext by clicking on that word at the top left of the editing toolbar.

Navigation

There are several ways to find what's in this water wiki. Even if you want to add new information, it's a good idea to first find some related information and then add to or edit it or add some discussion. In this way, your ideas will be linked to other similar ideas and the site can grow more coherently.

The main ways to navigate this site are: (1) from the Main page, there are links in the text that will take you to various parts of the website, and you can continue clicking through links in this fashion; (2) on the "Contents" page, linked in the left navigation bar, there is an alphabetized list of all the articles (an "article" in this software is a page in the main namespace, or a content namespace, that is not a redirect and contains at least one internal link. When there is embedded an image this counts also as an internal link. (3) by clicking "Recent changes" in the left bar, you will find a list of recent changes and additions, and you can click on ones you are interested in. (4) "Random page" will bring up one of the 228 pages currently in the site. (5) The search box will look throughout the site for matches.
