Water quality/quantity links
From Water Wiki
Low flow conditions are used to calculate limits for wastewater discharges
Sedimentation removes storage capacity of water supplies
Contaminated groundwater removes water supplies, or makes it more expensive to treat
Increased water withdrawals increase the chance for land subsidence, sinkholes and saltwater intrusion. (Sinkholes provide a spot for contaminants to more easily access the groundwater supply; saltwater intrusion contaminates groundwater)
Treated wastewater or reclaimed water can be used for non-potable purposes such as irrigation, cooling and industrial processing.
Rain water and stormwater can be captured and used for irrigation.
