More about distance learning (DL):

There are two main types listed below. And, there are hybrids; A course or program need not be all one type.

  • Synchronous (live event)
        - webinar (live interactive, web-based conference; includes audience questions and a telephone audio conference as backup)
        - webcast (like the webinar, but less interactive-think a web-based, one-way broadcast)
        - video conference (teleconference, Friday Center, remote sites)
        - audio conference (phone conference, Polycom)
  • Asynchronous (non-live event)
        - self-paced instruction (text and image centric)
        - narrated PowerPoint presentations (text and images with sound)
